Nancy Pelosi’s H.R. 8 was filed, heard in a sham committee, and passed out of the House of Representatives in just over a week.
Honestly, it was always going to be a tough battle to defeat this legislation in the House. But with the bill now landing in the Senate, gun owners need to engage with everything we’ve got to crush this legislation.
If we don’t, and H.R. 8 becomes law, virtually every firearm transfer in the nation will require running your name through a government database first — giving the radical left a list of every gun owner in America!
And we all know why they want that database. So send your PRE-WRITTEN EMAIL to Senators Baldwin and Johnson NOW!
Some gun owners have mentally thrown in the towel, assuming that this fight is already over as Chuck Schumer has 50 votes out of a 100 vote chamber and has Kamala Harris on standby, ready to break any ties that come up.
And while there are some scenarios where Chuck Schumer may try to pass this bill with a simple majority of 51 votes, in almost every case, the majority party needs 60 votes to pass significant legislation.
That’s because Senate Rule XXII requires 3/5ths of the Senate to end debate on a bill and put it on the floor for a final vote. Today, this ‘cloture’ motion, requires the vote of 60 Senators!
That means that Chuck Schumer needs every single member of his conference to support H.R. 8, plus ten Republicans, before they can get this bill on the floor.
Now there are certainly more than a few backstabbing Republicans in Washington, D.C. who would happily vote for this legislation if given the chance. Eight Republicans voted for H.R. 8 in the House, for example. But ten in the Senate? Not likely, as long as gun owners crank up the heat!
Of course, if even one Republican Senator comes out in favor of this legislation it could spark a domino effect that gun owners can’t control. We can’t take any chances.
If H.R.8 passes, not only would it give the government a list of virtually every gun owner in America, it would make felons out of law abiding citizens who don’t want their name in a government database to exercise a constitutional right.
Under this bill, selling a rifle to a friend from church without getting permission from the government would leave you facing felony charges!
If you let your neighbor borrow a shotgun to go hunting for the weekend without getting permission from the government, you would be facing felony charges.
The mere act of allowing a friend to borrow your Glock 43, to see if it fits his wife’s hands before she buys one of her own, would require government permission or you would be facing felony charges!
You see, while not stopping a single committed criminal, H.R. 8 would make criminals out of countless gun owners!
But we can stop this, if Republican Senators like Ron Johnson hold the line and oppose this legislation. Send your email now!
I would like to think that Republican Senators would be strong and stand their ground, opposing this legislation because it’s the right thing to do, without being reminded by gun owners.
But if President Trump taught us anything during his time in office, it’s that the Republican party is full of weak cowards, who are more interested in pleasing lobbyists and big PACS than they are in fighting for freedom.
So it’s vital that gun owners here in Wisconsin keep the pressure on Senators Baldwin and Johnson.
That’s why I hope that you’ll send the PRE-WRITTEN EMAIL that we have prepared for you to them right away. After your email goes through, you’ll be given the option to make a donation to help the Wisconsin Firearms Coalition rally gun owners against H.R. 8.
We are doing everything we can to mobilize gun owners.
But between this fight, our work to stop H.R. 127, H.R. 130, H.R. 8 and our new program addressing the threat of Dianne Feintein’s ‘Assault Weapons Ban,’ we are dependent on your continued support.
We can win this fight if we all stand together. Send your email and then urge your friends and family to do the same thing!
For Wisconsin,
Ben Dorr

P. S. H.R. 8 has passed the House in D.C., but likely needs 60 votes to advance in the Senate. That’s why gun owners in ‘pro-gun’ states need to do everything we can to ensure that we are not betrayed by ‘pro-gun’ Senators.
